Information Technology is very important in today’s times. It is so heartening to see so many youngsters getting into this field of study, where we see changes all the time. Similar to how traditions undergo change with time, technology also should evolve. However, transitions may seemingly be tough. There was a time when people had no knowledge of computers. Offices were run more on paper work. With the advent of computers, people did go through a lot of stress moving from the times of non-technology towards systems built on the framework of technology.

There are learnings to be picked up from any kind of system. Bridging of gaps during such significant transformations needs a mindset which is flexible, which is open to change.

There goes a story on how two young boys of Switzerland innovated a type of digital watch. Switzerland, which was then already quite popular for its watches was not open for their prototype made on a startup technology. They were shunned by most of the companies there. It just needed a brilliant mind to see opportunity and possibility in their invention. When their design was accepted, it was such a huge success that the business of more than 60% of the older watch companies crashed. Such innovations bring a huge paradigm shift.

As technologists and technicians, there are a huge number of possibilities in the field; an open mind to explore such opportunities is what is essential.

Meditation is that technique that helps to clear out all skepticism and creates an open mindset, which brings growth through creative work. The history of mankind boasts of a number of such significant inventions and discoveries, like that of Newton’s law, Archimedes principle and many more. Each of these came from a Meditative state of mind.

The mind, our consciousness has immense growth potential, to grow into an innovative spirit. To get there, a healthy body and healthy mind is absolutely essential. A clear, calm, well-rested state of mind is a podium for creative thoughts and innovative ideas.

There are traditional value systems beyond our current education systems, where there is a treasure-house of wisdom; which help understand the tendencies of the mind. Your breath is the connection between the physical body and the mind; it helps modulate your emotions. So, with healthy food for the body along with regular breathing practices and meditation, the mind becomes robust, calm and peaceful. In such a state of mind, our memory gets sharpened, intellect elite and spirit uplifted. With all of this, you can work wonders in life.

We have great hopes on you, the students of IIIT, to bring a lot of value add to the field of technology in this country. With Information Technology, you can make this world a better place. To achieve this, we need a strong orientation into moral, ethical and spiritual wisdom.

Through its various projects including the Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir, Sri Sri University and the Art of Living Free Schools Program, The Art of Living has been championing the cause of value-based education.
