Culture Festival Nigeria - Celebrating 40+ years of Art of Living

The next event of Gurudev’s Vibrant Africa tour in Nigeria was the Culture Festival organized by the Nigerian chapter of the organization to celebrate over 40 years of service, upholding human values, environment care and a host of other activities pioneered by the organization.

Internationally renowned artistes from the region presented traditional folk music, dance forms and other African performances. Performances included those by popular African singer and songwriter, Darey Art Alade; singer Waje; Time Dakolo, Naomi Mac, Lov’d Serenades. Nigerian actress Nancy Isime moderated the event. There were performances by several groups from different parts of Nigerian along with a Yoga dance. Kathak, Bharatnatyam, and Kuchipudi were also performed.

Thousands attended the event in person and several thousands more joined online to celebrate with Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. During the event Gurudev led the attendees through a guided meditation and answered questions from the wonderstruck audience.

Among the dignitaries present were H.E Olusegun Obasanjo, Former President of Nigeria; the revered rulers of African kingdoms – HRM Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba Oni of Lekki Land, HRM Oba Onimedu of Orimedu land, HRM Oba Dokun Thompson, Chief Abayomi Daramola Balogun of Oniru Kingdom; and Mr. Ajay from the office of High Commission of India.

H.E Olusegun Obasanjo and Gurudev also awarded 3 people for their contribution to the development of African values and culture.
